1. Who you are dealing with

YourLikeness.app is run by Trusted Insights, a small business in New York State. When these terms say "we" or "us", that is who they mean.

Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.

2. What the service is

You upload a photograph. We paint a portrait from it, in a style you choose, and show it to you free.

The portrait is made by a machine, and we would rather say that plainly than let you wonder. Your photograph is the part no machine can supply — it is a moment somebody actually lived, and everything starts there.

If you like the result you can buy the high-resolution file, or have it printed on paper or canvas, or ordered as note cards. If you do not like it, you have spent nothing.

3. Your photograph

You need the right to use the photograph you upload, and by uploading it you are telling us you have it.

Your photograph is deleted within 24 hours. The one exception is if you tick the box asking whether we may show your original beside the portrait, and that box only appears after you have seen the portrait and liked it.

Your photograph is never used to train AI. Not ours, not anybody else’s.

4. What you may do with your portrait

It’s yours to use. Print it, frame it, hang it, give it away, put it on your Christmas cards, post it, crop it however you like. Use it in your business too if you want — on your wall, on your website.

Two things to keep in mind, and they’d be true whatever we wrote here. You need the right to the photograph you started from. And if someone recognisable is in it, they should be happy about it being used to sell something.

The one thing we ask is that you don’t resell the artwork itself — prints of it, or the file. If you want to, just ask us. We’ll almost certainly say yes.

One footnote, in case you are wondering: if a professional photographer took the original, that photograph is still their work. In practice that only comes up if you want to sell the portrait. For anything you are doing yourself — including in your own business — you are fine.

5. Where your portrait appears

Nowhere, unless you say so.

We ask separately about the painting and about your original photograph, because they are different questions and people rightly answer them differently. Each answer is recorded with the exact words that were on the screen when you gave it.

You can change your mind. Write to lara@yourlikeness.app and we will take it down.

6. Prices, shipping and tax

Prices are shown before you pay and include nothing hidden.

Shipping is charged at exactly what the printer charges us. It is never marked up, and a second item in the same order usually adds nothing because it travels in the same package.

Sales tax is added where the law requires it and is passed to the state.

7. If something goes wrong

If a print arrives damaged, photograph the piece and the box it came in, and email lara@yourlikeness.app within two weeks of delivery. We will replace it or refund it, whichever you would rather. Keep the packaging until it is sorted — our printers need to see the box, and without it the claim cannot be made.

If tracking never shows your order delivered, we send another. Once, no questions. If tracking shows it was delivered and it is not there, tell us and we will help you chase it, though we cannot automatically replace a package the carrier records as handed over.

Printed work is not returnable. Every piece is made for one person from one photograph and there is nobody else to sell it to — which is exactly why the portrait is free to look at first.

The digital file is not refundable once downloaded. You saw the portrait free, full size, before you paid, so nothing arrives that you had not already looked at.

8. What we do not promise

We provide the site as it is. We cannot promise it will always be available, or that every portrait will be to your taste — which is why you always see it before you pay.

A portrait painted from a small, faded or distant face comes back softer than one painted from a close, clear photograph. That is the photograph rather than a fault in the printing, and it is not something a reprint fixes.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you for anything arising out of an order is limited to what you paid for it.

9. Changes, and the law

We may update these terms. A change never applies backwards to something you have already bought.
